Early Fall Massachusetts Tree and Shrub Trimming

Tree and Shrub TrimmingWith the lush springs we have here in Massachusetts (and in addition this year we also had a very late and snow filled winter!) our trees and shrubs get plenty of water, plenty of sun and ultimately plenty of opportunity to grow.

In terms of tree management this is always a very interesting time of year. Typically the internal clock of your trees, bushes and shrubs tend to move towards less growth as they begin to get ready for fall and winter.

With the bulk of our seasonal growth behind us, it makes right now a great time to consider a tree and shrub trim.

In addition as we are heading into early fall, we tend to see some real serious storms, and even on occasion a hurricane! What makes it particularly challenging is that often during these storms our trees have not yet had a chance to lose their leaves (think of the way a sailboat works), so the heavy winds present serious challenges to the health of our tree limbs.  By being proactive, homeowners can focus on preventative measures rather than having to deal with costly cleanups and potential repairs due to fallen tree limbs.   And not to be a harbinger of bad news… but on the off-chance that we have an early snow, as I’m sure we all know all too well, if our trees are still covered with leaves the likelihood of branches and even full tress toppling goes way up.

Another key element of tree and shrub trimming is focused on overall healthy and longevity.  Often when taking the time to trim the trees and shrubs on your property, our team can identify and remove unhealthy limbs that are beginning to deliver a “parasitic” experience to the overall well-being of a particular tree or shrub – serving only to drain resources while no longer contributing to the health of that particular item.  By removing these dead and unwanted limbs we are also allowing the healthy parts of your trees and shrubs the opportunity to flourish and to not have to needlessly compete for precious resources.

And of course there are simple design reasons to trim your trees – maybe they are obscuring a window or even another part of your lawn such as a patio or garden?  While the bulk of this post has been focused on health and safety factors, tree and shrub design are also important factors that we address in every tree and shrub trimming.
